Jeepers Creepers Rated '15' by the
BBFC for very strong, gory violence and some strong language. Version Reviewed-
DVD The sad fact of the matter is, though, that Jeepers Creepers could be a fantastic movie that both terrifies and entertains as the two teenagers Trish and Darry are persued by a mad-"man" down a remote highway, but instead we are given a poorly-acted mess that fails to even unsettle. Granted, some scenes are incredibly sick and disturbing for the squeamish, but regular horror fans will not be impressed. Thankfully, all is not lost for Jeepers Creepers. The police-station scenes are some of the most thrilling in the movie (Even if they do end abruptly and disappointingly) and the first half-hour or so builds the scene nicely. Unfortunately, though, the main characters' constant childish squabbles and unconvincing expressions dampen the impact considerably of what is a potential classic. The one saving grace that Jeepers Creepers has is in the form of the extras. We are presented with a quality 60 minute documentary, some (quite pointless) deleted scenes, Audio commentary and the usual other additions (Photos, trailers etc). As I have already said, Jeepers Creepers is a potential winner and cries out for a big-budget remake with a better conclusion. What we have here is a teen-slasher with a difference, but overall there's little here that is going to excite. It's a shame, really. Rating/5- *
