Escape from
New York
Action adventure thriller
Kurt Russell excels in this very entertaining 1980's thriller in which
the President gets captured by the most dangerous criminals in the world.
As the best man for the job, criminal 'Snake Pliskin' is sent in to
retrieve him. Very entertaining and easy to pick up cheap. Superior to
it's sequel; Escape from LA.

Escape from
L.A.
Action adventure thriller
Basically the original all over again, only in L.A., EFLA is unoriginal
and very inferior to the first. Even Steve Buscemi can't save this from
being silly, absurd trash. But isn't the fact that the original was such
trash the reason we loved it so much?

Event Horizon
Horror Sci-fi
A salvage crew boards a vessel lost years earlier, but find more than
they bargained for, as this space-craft really has been to hell and back,
bringing some pretty undesirable things along with it. Whilst it isn't
exactly the scariest film on the planet, it is original and incredibly
entertaining for most science-fiction and horror
fans.

Evil Dead
Horror/Very black comedy
A classic in low-budget movie-making, Evil Dead throws a handful of
teenagers into the very meaning of terror as they fight for their lives
against a true force of horror, making the audience laugh at the special
effects and extremely black humour, but scream at the deadly atmosphere
and extremely tense end sequences where Ash battles for his life alone.
Using the classic 'isolated cabin in the middle of nowhere' formula, Evil
Dead follows a group of teens who (very stupidly) decide to stay in a
wooden cabin in the deep, dark heart of a forest surrounded with evil.
Uncovering 'the Book of the Dead', they play a cassette recording which
awakens evil in the area. What follows is a claustrophobic spree of
terror and sickeningly black comedy, coupled with constant gore and
insanity. Very entertaining.
